Tai Chi for Health 1 at the Scandia Community Center
Tai chi is a ‘gentle martial art’ discipline that embraces the mind, body and spirit. Originating in ancient China, tai chi is one of the most effective exercises for health of mind and body. Although a discipline with a great depth of knowledge and skill, it can be easy to learn and soon delivers its health benefits. For many, it continues as a lifetime journey.
The class will be an 8-week experience, starting on February 7th and continuing through to March 27th, from 6:30-7:30 covering Tai Chi for Health 1. The registration fee is $45. No registrations accepted after the 2nd week of class, February 14th.
Participants will learn to execute all of the various movements of Tai Chi for Health 1 as well as the 6 principles that are incorporated into this form of Tai Chi. Each week we will focus on one or two of the movements and toward the end of the series we’ll also focus on breathing and movement coordination.
There will be weekly handouts demonstrating the movements so class participants can practice at home in-between classes.
Participants should wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing and flat soled shoes.
Note: The class will meet each Wednesday evening, February 7th – March 27th in the Scandia Community Center Hall, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
