The city is now taking applications for a new Waste and Recycling Committee which will identify, examine, evaluate and seek input on the various methods of organized collection of waste and recycling. The committee will be formed if the city does not reach an agreement with the current hauler (Waste Management.) Then the city would follow a process required by state law for an RFP (Request for Proposals) process to select hauler(s) to serve the city. The committee would be appointed in April and meet on a schedule to be determined with input from its members. The committee would disband after making its report to the Council, sometime later this year.
