The Scandia Fire Department recommends that all commercial properties and any property without a key holder in the area or residents concerned about EMS gaining access during a medical emergency provide a “Key Lock Box System” for Fire Department use only. These systems allow faster access to locked buildings and rooms in the case of a fire, fall or medical emergency. These key boxes will also limit damage during medical emergencies, false alarms or incipient stage fires by allowing access without having to cause damage to any doors or windows.
